Going Downtown - Downtown Disney

When we are in Orlando, we always have problems finding something to do during our downtime. There are many amusement places on I-4 such as mini golf and arcades and many dinner theaters, but just not what we are in the mood for.

Quite ofter we end up at Downtown Disney. We do dinner at either McDonald’s or Earl of Sandwich as they are the most affordable. We walk around and one of his favorite places is the Lego Store. He goes there and builds cars out of Legos to race the other children.

Nightly at Downtown Disney there is entertainment. My son loves this. We get there early and let the DJ know in advance that he has autism. Then we watch as he participates in the games and the dance party. He loves it everytime.

When we are winding down and getting ready to go, we stop in at the Ghiradelli Soda Fountain. We get some sundaes and snacks and head down to the waterfront tables to relax and talk about our great day.

Tips for Downtown Disney

  • It is loud so you may want to bring earplugs or headphones
  • There are many stores so set a spending limit
  • Look at menus before choosing the restaurant
  • Go during the week so it is less crowded
